Intro
. Based In Experience
I’ve been endulging in live electronic music since I was in the 9th grade when my friend’s older brother brought me to my first concert. All throughout highschool I would go to shows every single weekend through guest list spots I had aquired through meeting the individuals who were running these local venues and promotional companies.
Having an insiders view at the entities behind this local music gave me heaps of motivation to become involved. All of these people were dedicating their lives to furthing the community that was cultivating through live electronic music and while I wanted to do my part in terms of helping, I was never able to find a reason, place, or the time to do so.
For years I continued to be a member of the audience, taking in all of the experiences I had encountered. Through these moments, I’ve been able to pinpoint some of the very specific flaws in the system that most event planners seem to overlook. With this study, I aimed to put almost a decade of knowledge to use, conceptualizing a new type of event that would not only restructure the idea of live electronic music, but also bring a fresh collection of visuals to the table as well.

. Community Connection
As I’ve been actively going to festivals for roughly half of my entire lifetime, I had plenty of opportunities to come across issues that attendees would face, from smaller scale items such as horribly long entry lines, to significantly larger issues such as price gouging on necessities and execessive environmental waste/impact.
Most of these issues have now been recognized by many participants, and outspoken crowds have helped significantly in the push to have event planners work towards ousting them. But as we continue to improve the environment and production of these events, some small issues are becoming increasingly more noticeable as we tackle the bigger and more obvious problems.
The issue I wanted to tackle when ideating this event went less along the lines of event logistics and more in consideration of UX and how the audience can connect with the different entities behind the scenes, whether that be the acts preforming or companies whose services are key to the progression of live music. Implementing characteristics of both live convention panels and live expositions would give attendees the ability to recieve a look into what keeps the industry moving.
Brand Guideline
. The Rules
Event Flyer
. Scope of Interest
Before hitting the visual layout head-on, I spent quite some time on the content in which I was going to be including on the flyer. Hours of time running through independant record labels, promotional accounts, and related artists led me to a lineup of 50+ artists and a handful of initial panels/exhibitions.
This allowed me to showcase talent from a plethora of subgenres, pulling a wide range of interest from each corner of electronic music.
Packaging Design
. Pre-event Engagement
. Pre-event Engagement
User experience is by far one of, if not, the most important factor that sits within this event. You can’t build an event and say it was built to foster connection when you don’t allow your audience to become hands on with the brand until they step inside the gates.
With this packaging component, I wanted to create a unique experience for ticket delivery that raises the bar past other techniques that companies are implementing. For this I built a 3D mock-up of how the tickets (wristbands) would be boxed/delivered to the customer along with unique brand stickers and a QR code with access to the event’s app (laid out below).

. The Brain
. The Brain
This app was brought to life in order to exist as the glue that holds the entire event together. As a hub of information for event preparation prior to the show, and a planner and means of greater accessability during the event, this app has been thought through for the smoothest user experience without sacrificing the amount of tasks that can be initiated and completed.
